Pop Justice At Its Best
I know it's a bit late but how tragically funny was Sunday's Totally Boyband with the knowledge that their debut single "The One" had only managed to reach #35 in the charts.
Whether it was Dane Bowers putting money on at the bookies for the single to reach #1, Dane Bowers claiming they were better than Girls Aloud or Dane Bowers claiming there's no way they wouldn't reach the top ten, every single person, particularly Dane Bowers, displayed a whopping amount of delusion, egotism and complete lack of self-awareness.
You would actually feel sorry for the band if they hadn't acted like complete arseholes throughout the series. Ditching Lee Latchford Evans for being talentless, when you had the likes of Jimmy from 911 and Danny Wood from NKOTB, was a staggeringly arrogant move. How he must be gloating now.
The whole thing was doomed from the start. It might have worked had they chosen members from 5ive, A1, V etc, people who were still the right side of 30 but to choose members of such varying ages, they looked ridiculous and incompatible from the moment they met at the press conference. They've also managed to do the impossible and make Lisa Scott-Lee look successful.

To say they were complete a**holes is a bunch of crap..
They would have made it higher in the charts if their damn record company had promoted them better..
Lee being kicked out, If he did everything he claimed he could do , he wouldn't have been kicked out.. Mr. I speak of myself in 3rd person, how long is he gonna sing the "they picked on me" tune(Seems to be the only tune he can carry).
How about backing off these guys, all you that want to put them down , let's see you get out there and bust your a** night after night.
Upper Street fans support them 100%

Static&Silent, when you have had a single in the top 40 ~(or when you reach puberty, whichever is sooner) then you might just be qualified to comment on this one. As Kelly said, the only reason this single didn't do better was because they weren't promoted properly - eg radio stations weren't sent the single to play, there weren't enough in the shops etc. It's a great song and the members of Upper Street are all really nice guys so leave them alone!

Thanks for both of your insightful and mature comments. I wasn't aware you had to reach puberty in order to have an opinion but I now know otherwise.
I agree that both Concept Records and their manager have been completely useless.
But to be fair, they've had more than enough promotion. They've been on GMTV, T4, Popworld, the Radio 1 Breakfast Show and more importantly, they've had their own prime-time MTV show which was also repeated on T4.
And of course there were enough in the shops and of course radio stations had the singles to play - they just didn't think it was good enough.
